Paardevlei is a property that was bought by the City of Cape Town to establish a major new urban node in the far east metro. The framework was shaped by sustainable drainage systems and a vision driven by public transport systems to cater to the massive increase of people to the area. The precinct accommodates 2000 000m2 of floor area within a new CBD, residential and light industrial neighbourhoods. The proposal calls for a large central park, a provincial hospital, a film studio and large numbers of dense residential units of diverse typologies.
